HELLCUBED v1.1


HELLCUBED came 9th for Fun in the 2024 Bullet Hell Jam! Now the rating period has passed I have updated HELLCUBED to v1.1 with various fixes and minor enhancements which are listed below. I know that the most common feedback from the jam was that there needed to be more enemy variety and I had originally planned on another two types of airborne enemies. However after looking back over what I'd planned I realised it wouldn't be trivial to implement and so, for now, I am going to leave it as it is.

Fixes

  • Issue with stuttering at the start of the game has been fixed.
  • Issue with using the Enter key to toggle fullscreen whilst having a captured mouse and losing the mouse capture is fixed for Chromium browsers. However it remains an issue with Firefox.
  • Firing, Repairing and Shielding now interact correctly with the pause function.
  • Missing shadow under the 'Tallneck' enemy has been restored.
  • Energy can no longer move exactly or nearly parallel with the up vector as this was causing internal errors.

Enhancements

  • There is now a visual and audio indication that Repairing is occurring.
  • There is now an obvious visual indication when you are low on Energy (<30).
  • There is now an obvious visual indication when you have low Integrity (<20%).
  • The win ending is now less abrupt.
  • The controls text has been reworded for clarity.
  • There is a new font used throughout.
